Maywood family of three found shot to death in house fire

Authorities are investigating the deaths of a family of three following a residential fire in Maywood, California. Emergency responders arrived at a two-story home in the 5000 block of East 61st Street around 2:25 a.m. on Saturday.

After extinguishing the flames, firefighters and deputies discovered the bodies of a man and woman in their late 40s, along with a boy under the age of 10, inside a bedroom. All three victims had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have identified the adults as a married couple and the child as their biological son.

A handgun was recovered from the bedroom where the victims were found. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that the incident appears to be domestic violence in nature and noted there is no ongoing threat to the community. The exact cause of the fire and the identity of the shooter remain under investigation.
