Mazara del Vallo launches survey for social housing properties

The Municipality of Mazara del Vallo has launched an extraordinary survey to identify unused and non-profitable private properties for conversion into social housing. This initiative is part of the national ‘Piano Casa’ framework, following urgent provisions established by decree-law no. 66 of May 7, 2026, and its subsequent conversion law.

The program aims to recover building stock by identifying structures that can either be renovated or demolished and rebuilt. According to municipal technical official Irene Licari, the measures are intended to combat urban, environmental, and social degradation while promoting urban regeneration, particularly within the city's historic center.

Private individuals, legal entities, and holders of real rights over properties are invited to submit expressions of interest. Applicants must specify whether the buildings are suitable for demolition or recovery and provide necessary documentation, such as property titles and cadastral data. Submissions must be sent using the official municipal model by September 7, 2026.
