Mazarrón: Armed robbers steal gambling revenue from vehicle

Four armed individuals intercepted a vehicle transporting gambling revenue in Mazarrón, Spain, early Tuesday morning. The robbery occurred around 6:30 a.m. near the highway entrance roundabout at Puerto de Mazarrón.

The assailants, reportedly using handguns, threatened the occupants of the van, which belongs to a business group that manages casinos and betting halls internationally. Following a physical struggle, the robbers seized thousands of euros in cash collected from slot machines and fled the scene. While the victims suffered from shock, no physical injuries were reported, and medical assistance was not required.

The Guardia Civil is leading the investigation into the incident. The robbery follows recent warnings from police unions, such as Jupol, regarding the rise of well-armed and highly structured organized crime groups operating within the Murcia region.
