Mazatlán violence: multiple attacks on rehabilitation centers leave several dead
A series of armed attacks in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, has resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. On November 1, gunmen targeted a youth treatment center in the Felipe Ángeles neighborhood, leaving two people dead and one injured. Hours later, a second attack occurred at a rehabilitation center in the Flores Magón neighborhood, where one man was killed outside and four patients were wounded inside.
In a separate incident in the Cima Horizonte area, authorities discovered the bodies of two men inside a vehicle who had been shot. Despite an increased security presence involving 1,600 naval elements, the violence has continued. The Sinaloa State Attorney General's Office has opened investigations into these attacks, but no arrests have been reported in connection with the rehabilitation center shootings.
In a related security operation in the Mazatlán-Culiacán area, authorities intercepted a semi-trailer with Texas license plates. Officers discovered 133 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in a false bottom of the vehicle floor. Two men, aged 36 and 38, were detained during the seizure.
