Mazatlán Marathon receives certification for Boston Marathon qualification

The Gran Maratón Herza Mazatlán 2026 has received official certification from the Mexican Athletics Federation. This designation allows athletes to use their recorded times to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Scheduled for December 4 to 6, 2026, the 25th anniversary edition of the event will feature 5, 10, 21, and 42 kilometer races along the Mazatlán boardwalk. Organizers expect to host over 8,000 runners and approximately 30,000 visitors.

Sinaloa's Secretary of Tourism, Mireya Sosa Osuna, presented the event in Mexico City, highlighting its role as a driver for sports tourism and the local economy. The competition is projected to generate an estimated economic impact of 155 million pesos for the region.
