Mazatlán to host International Firefighters Congress in November
Mazatlán will host the first International Firefighters Congress from November 24 to 27, bringing together between 420 and 500 firefighters and specialists from Mexico and the United States. The event features 25 instructors, including high-ranking officials from Los Angeles, San Diego, and Tijuana.
The program includes theoretical conferences at the Mazatlán Convention Center and practical workshops held at locations such as the Paseo del Centenario and the El Crestón wastewater treatment plant. Training topics cover cliff rescue, aquatic rescue, structural fire operations, search and rescue, and the NFPA 3000 international standard for responding to active shooter incidents and other hostile events.
Saúl Robles Chávez, commander of the Mazatlán Fire Department, noted that registration for the congress is free to support firefighters, though attendees from other cities must cover their own travel and lodging expenses.
