Mazatlán tourism boom draws over 2.6 million visitors in 2026

The port city of Mazatlán has attracted more than 2.6 million tourists during the first seven months of 2026, confirming its role as Mexico’s leading beach destination. Hotel occupancy averaged around 75 percent, and the influx generated an economic impact exceeding 18.5 billion pesos for the city.

State tourism officials, including Secretary of Tourism Mireya Sosa Osuna and Governor Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde, said the growth benefits transport services, restaurants, local commerce and guides. Across the state of Sinaloa, total visitor numbers reached 3.15 million and generated over 20.2 billion pesos, reinforcing tourism as a key engine for jobs and community welfare. Authorities plan continued investment in infrastructure, flight connectivity and promotional campaigns to sustain the momentum through the rest of the year.
