Mazda and Kyosho announce ‘Initial D’ inspired model car collections
Mazda and Kyosho have announced new high-precision 1/64 scale die-cast model car collections inspired by the popular manga series ‘Initial D’.
Mazda is releasing a special two-car set featuring the Takahashi brothers’ iconic vehicles: the white FC3S Savannah RX-7 driven by Ryosuke and the yellow FD3S Anni RX-7 driven by Keisuke. This collaboration serves as a countdown to the 60th anniversary of the Cosmo Sport in 2027. The set includes custom packaging featuring a mountain pass backdrop and a signature from the series creator, Shuichi Shigeno.
At the 64th All Japan Model Hobby Show, Kyosho showcased advanced manufacturing techniques, including entirely new molds for ‘Initial D’ vehicles such as the Toyota Sprinter Trueno (AE86), Mazda RX-7, and Subaru Impreza WRX (GC8). Kyosho’s exhibits highlighted technical innovations like steering gimmicks capable of a 30-degree turn and multi-layered headlight structures that allow for realistic illumination.
