Mazda confirms development of next-generation BT-50 pickup
Mazda has confirmed the development of a next-generation BT-50 pickup truck. Vinesh Bhindi, Managing Director of Mazda Australia, stated that the brand will continue its presence in the pickup segment to serve customers requiring towing, hauling, and off-road capabilities.
While Mazda does not develop its pickup platforms entirely in-house, the company is expected to either continue its existing partnership with Isuzu or potentially utilize the K50 Hunter chassis from its partner, Changan. Unlike the trend toward hybrid urban pickups, the next BT-50 is expected to maintain traditional diesel engines as a primary option, with a projected launch around 2028.
