Mazda CX-5 to feature Panasonic cockpit domain controller

Panasonic Automotive Systems announced that its cockpit domain controller (CDC) has been selected for Mazda Motor Corporation's all‑new CX‑5. The vehicle, which debuted in Europe in December 2025 and launched in Japan in May 2026, will roll out worldwide.

The CDC centralises infotainment, head‑up display and instrument cluster on an updatable platform that supports over‑the‑air updates within a software‑defined vehicle architecture. It incorporates VirtIO virtualisation technology and the Unity 3D rendering engine, enabling real‑time graphics of vehicle data. A driver‑personalisation function automatically restores seat, HUD and climate settings based on individual profiles. The adoption aligns with Mazda's new E/E Architecture+ and a complete redesign of the human‑machine interface.

Panasonic describes the controller as a core cockpit system for future software‑defined vehicles, offering modular, OTA‑capable upgrades throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.
