Mazda MX-5 2027: Mechanical updates and performance refinements

Mazda has introduced the 2027 MX-5, focusing on mechanical refinements and technological updates while maintaining its signature lightweight design. The model features a revised 1.5L Skyactiv-G naturally aspirated engine, now producing 136 CV and 155 Nm of torque. These performance gains are achieved through new engine mapping, low-viscosity lubricants, and reduced internal friction.

Key updates include improved driver assistance systems (ADAS) and enhanced acoustic engagement via a modified air filter box designed to direct engine sound into the cabin. The vehicle remains rear-wheel drive and retains its classic proportions. For the 2027 lineup, Mazda is introducing a new Zinc Green paint option and a limited Yakudo edition featuring a silver soft top and Brembo silver brake calipers.

Technical improvements also extend to the chassis, with the inclusion of new 16-inch forged wheels and Bilstein shock absorbers designed to optimize handling without increasing vehicle mass. The RF (Retractable Fastback) version features an electronic roof that operates in up to 10 km/h, while the standard soft top remains a core option.
