Mazda MX-5 Miata RF custom Ferrari 250 GTO replica heads to auction

A 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF has been custom-built to resemble the iconic Ferrari 250 GTO. The transformation was performed by Darrin Wood of Modern Custom Classics, based in Alabama, USA.

Unlike simple body kits, this vehicle features a hand-shaped carbon fiber body including specific door panels, fenders, and a trunk. While the Mazda's original proportions remain visible through the windshield and roofline, the design incorporates retro elements such as curved fenders, side vents, spoke wheels, and vintage-style taillights.

The car retains its original mechanical specifications, including the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and a Borla exhaust system. Despite the aesthetic overhaul, modern features such as the electric retractable hardtop, airbags, ABS, air conditioning, and navigation remain fully functional. The vehicle is scheduled to be sold via auction by Mecum Auctions in Nashville.
