Mazda releases ultra-limited Sunflower Yellow MX-5 Roadster in Japan

Mazda is releasing an ultra-limited special edition of the MX-5 Roadster, known as the FSW Ver. 2, exclusively for the Japanese market. Only six units will be produced, featuring a rare Sunflower Yellow exterior.

The project is a collaboration between four Japanese dealerships: Kanto Mazda, Shizuoka Mazda, Tokai Mazda, and Koshin Mazda. To achieve the specific color, the vehicles—based on the Roadster S Special Package—are sent to Mazda Engineering & Technology, the company’s subsidiary responsible for concept cars, to be custom repainted.

In addition to the unique paint, the FSW Ver. 2 includes a black aerodynamic package consisting of a front splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a rear spoiler. The interior also features yellow accents on the air-con vents, door panels, and key fob. Mechanically, the cars retain the standard 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Owners will be selected via a lottery during the Mazda Fan Fest at Fuji Speedway in early October.
