Mazda updates MX-5 lineup for 2027 with new engine and trims

Mazda has announced updates for the 2027 MX-5, introducing mechanical improvements and new trim levels to the iconic roadster lineup. The updated 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine now delivers 136 hp and 155 Nm of torque, offering increased power and efficiency compared to previous versions. The engine features improved acoustics and a more linear power delivery, with WLTP-rated fuel consumption at 6.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions at 139 g/km.

The 2027 range will consist of five equipment levels, including the new Yakudo special edition (available only in the MX-5 ST body style) and the existing Kazari edition. Other tiers include the sporty Homura, the entry-level Prime-line, and the Exclusive-line.

Safety and technology have also been enhanced. The Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system will now be standard across all trim levels. Additionally, refinements to the suspension, brakes, and chassis aim to maintain the model's signature 'Jinba Ittai' driving dynamics while meeting stricter European safety and emission standards.
