Mazda updates MX-5 range in New Zealand for 2026

Mazda Motors of New Zealand has announced an updated MX-5 range scheduled to arrive in the country from October 2026. The refresh includes a new entry-level model, the Roadster SP, which is priced from $51,990 plus on-road costs. This new variant is approximately $10,000 cheaper than the higher-tier models.

The updated lineup consists of three distinct variants. The Roadster SP features a six-speed manual transmission, 17-inch black metallic alloy wheels, a black fabric roof, and cloth-trimmed sports seats. The Roadster Takami, which replaces the previous Roadster GT, serves as the performance-focused option with Recaro leather and Alcantara sports seats, 17-inch BBS forged alloy wheels, Bilstein dampers, and red Brembo brake calipers.

The RF Homura variant continues to offer a retractable hardtop paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, including luxury features such as heated leather seats and a Bose audio system. All models in the range will utilize Mazda’s SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, producing 135kW and 205Nm.
