Mazlum Abdi reports improved dialogue with Turkey and SDG integration progress

Mazlum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDG), stated that the process of integrating the SDG into the Syrian army is expected to be completed within the month. Abdi noted that while a previous agreement did not meet all demands, it established a status for Kurds within the Syrian state, and he expressed a desire to participate in the construction of a decentralized Syrian state.

Regarding relations with Turkey, Abdi remarked that the situation has improved compared to a year ago when the SDG faced constant bombardment. He confirmed that open channels of dialogue exist between the two parties and that they are communicating directly rather than through intermediaries. Abdi expressed hope for moving beyond the current ceasefire toward a mutual understanding and normal diplomatic relations.

Abdi also addressed the possibility of visiting Turkey, noting that political conditions would determine such a trip, though he sees positive signals that could benefit both the Kurdish people and Turkey. Additionally, he commented on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, acknowledging him as a Kurdish leader who played a significant role in previous peace processes.
