Paysandu appoints Mazola Júnior and signs Schiappacasse

Paysandu is undergoing significant changes as it attempts to recover in the Série C quadrangular stage. Following two consecutive defeats against Brusque and Ferroviária, the club has appointed Mazola Júnior as its new head coach, replacing Júnior Rocha. Mazola Júnior aims to implement his tactical philosophy quickly to secure a spot in the 2027 Série B.

To bolster the squad, the club has integrated Uruguayan striker Nico Schiappacasse, who joins after resolving legal issues with his former club, Amazonas. Schiappacasse, who scored seven goals in the competition earlier this season, is expected to debut this Sunday against Inter de Limeira. He joins attackers Ítalo and Juninho to form a potent offensive trio.

Additionally, 19-year-old midfielder Kukri has been promoted from the U-20 squad to the professional roster to provide more depth under the new management. Despite currently holding only a 19.5% mathematical probability of promotion, the club is looking toward recent historical precedents of mid-stage recoveries to fuel its comeback efforts.
