Giorgos Mazonakis death investigation expands as assets are frozen

The investigation into the death of Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis has expanded significantly. Toxicology reports have confirmed the presence of a cocktail of propofol and midazolam in his blood, substances that can cause extreme suppression and potentially lead to death.

Authorities have frozen all assets belonging to the two detained doctors, Ioanna Gaka and Ilias Theodoropoulos, including a bank safe deposit box in Kolonaki. The financial probe is investigating additional charges, including aggravated fraud, unlawful practice of medicine, tax evasion, and money laundering.

New testimony has emerged from the 19-year-old daughter of the doctors. She confirmed she underwent plasmapheresis treatment in two phases, administered by her mother. She also testified that she was the one who called emergency services (EKAB) but stated she did not see Mazonakis in the examination room. Legal representatives for the family suggest her testimony may be a defense strategy to mitigate the intent of the accused. Meanwhile, investigations continue into the clinic's operating conditions, including reports of irregular billing and improper medical equipment usage.
