Mazovian labor market faces potential job cuts as unemployment rises

The labor market in the Mazovian Voivodeship is showing signs of instability, with companies across several sectors reporting plans for workforce reductions. In August, companies announced changes that could affect nearly 1,200 employees, with some cuts expected to occur in September and October.

Data from the Provincial Labor Office in Warsaw indicates that the unemployment rate in the region rose from 4.4% to 4.5% in July 2026, reaching 122,895 registered unemployed persons. This increase was primarily observed in areas outside of Warsaw and its immediate surroundings.

Regarding specific corporate actions, Veolia Energia Warszawa S.A. clarified that its recent notification to the Labor Office is a standard procedure related to a collective labor agreement protocol. The company stated that no layoffs or wage reductions are currently planned for its 634 employees.
