Mazowieckie Voivodeship to expand rail network and reduce travel times
The Mazowieckie Voivodeship is set to undergo significant railway modernization through the Integrated Railway Network project, part of the ‘Nasza Kolej’ government program. The initiative aims to reduce travel times on major routes and expand rail access to underserved areas.
Key improvements include shortening the journey from Warsaw to Radom to approximately 50 minutes and Radom to Kielce to 30 minutes. The Warsaw–Otwock–Lublin route is also slated for upgrades to increase capacity and punctuality, with a target travel time of 90 minutes from Warsaw to Lublin. In northeastern Mazovia, the Tłuszcz–Ostrołęka line is being modernized to allow speeds of up to 120 km/h.
The project includes the construction of approximately 147 km of new lines, bringing rail services to towns such as Pułtusk, Maków Mazowiecki, Przasnysz, Węgrów, Grójec, and Konstancin-Jeziorna. Other planned connections include routes from Zegrze to Mława, Sokołów Podlaski to Małkinia, and a link to the Modlin airport.
