Mazzarino political group demands healthcare reforms and Asp leadership changes
A political group led by former Mazzarino mayor Domenico Faraci is demanding transparency and improvements regarding local healthcare services. The group has called for the resignation of Salvatore Ficarra, the Director General of the Asp, citing concerns over the criteria used for personnel transfers to local facilities.
To address local medical needs, the group has presented six specific technical requirements for the Santo Stefano area:
• Implementation of local endoscopy services to reduce the need for patient transfers to Caltanissetta and Gela. • Establishment of a Pediatric First Intervention Point (PPIP) with a pediatrician available during holidays and pre-holidays. • Creation of stable urology and ophthalmology clinics, including cataract surgery capabilities to assist elderly patients. • An efficient emergency room staffed with an anesthesiologist to stabilize patients. • A 24-hour laboratory for medical analysis.
