MB Way to expand money transfers to 13 European countries
SIBS has announced that MB Way users will be able to perform money transfers to 13 European countries starting at the end of 2026. This expansion follows a protocol established earlier this year between SIBS/MB Way, Italy's Bancomat, the Nordic Vipps MobilePay, and the European Payments Initiative (EPI), which owns Wero.
The goal is to accelerate the use of payment platforms that have previously been localized to a European level. By the end of 2026, transfers are expected to be possible between customers in Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.
Looking further ahead, the plan includes enabling MB Way for physical and online payments via QR Code or NFC in these same countries by 2027. This would allow users to use their home country's preferred payment solution for purchases across Europe.
