The production team of the MBC variety show ‘I Live Alone’ has issued an official apology following controversy regarding a segment featuring Jun Hyun Moo’s trip to Almaty, Kazakhstan. The episode, which aired in mid-August, depicted Jun deciding on his destination spontaneously at Incheon International Airport. However, viewers raised concerns about the feasibility of such a trip without prior administrative preparation, noting cooperation from the Almaty City Tourism Authority and issues regarding rental car requirements.

The production team clarified that while Jun did choose the destination and purchase his ticket on the day, the team had anticipated his choice. They had pre-booked staff flights and coordinated with local authorities in case he selected Kazakhstan, which they deemed a highly likely destination based on his interests and available flights. They admitted that the lack of detailed explanation regarding these preparations caused confusion and apologized for the oversight.

Following the controversy, the show’s brand reputation index saw a significant decline, dropping from first to tenth place in recent monthly analysis. Despite the backlash and the drop in brand ranking, recent viewership ratings remained relatively stable, suggesting a loyal core audience.
