MBC ‘I Live Alone’ faces scripting controversy over Jun Hyun-moo’s Kazakhstan trip
Controversy has resurfaced regarding the MBC variety show ‘I Live Alone’ after documents revealed that entertainer Jun Hyun-moo’s supposedly spontaneous trip to Kazakhstan was pre-planned.
Data submitted by Incheon International Airport to the office of lawmaker Kim Eun-hye shows that MBC applied for filming permission on July 22, specifically detailing scenes of Jun issuing a boarding pass at an Air Astana counter on August 6. The application included a specific flight time of 11:10 AM, which matched the actual broadcast. Furthermore, the submitted scenario contained specific dialogue where Jun decides to visit Kazakhstan after stating, “I’ve been to China too many times,” a sequence that was mirrored in the aired episode.
While MBC production staff previously claimed they were merely prepared for the possibility of Kazakhstan being chosen, the detailed nature of the filming permit and scenario has led to accusations of scripted manipulation. Additional scrutiny has been placed on Jun’s ability to rent a vehicle in Almaty so quickly without the required notarized documents, and the production team has revised its stance regarding local support, moving from denying all assistance to acknowledging filming cooperation from the Almaty Tourism Bureau.
