MBC ‘Marriage Hell’ features couple facing debt and coercion claims

On the upcoming episode of the MBC program ‘Oh Eun-young Report: Marriage Hell’, a couple who has been divorced for seven years but continues to run a bone soup restaurant together will share their story. The wife alleges that throughout their 40-year marriage, her husband made unilateral decisions regarding both their business and their intimate relationship.

The wife claims the husband was coercive in their sexual relationship, even failing to respect her physical recovery following surgery for uterine fibroids. The husband admitted to being coercive, justifying his actions by stating he could not wait indefinitely and citing his youthful energy.

Beyond personal conflicts, the couple faced significant financial hardship. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, several business ventures initiated by the husband without consulting his wife—including a restaurant expansion and a packaging factory—failed, resulting in a debt of approximately 650 million won. While the wife seeks an apology and reconciliation, the husband maintains they are like ‘water and oil’ and refuses to reunite. Dr. Oh Eun-young is expected to provide an unprecedented conclusion to their case.
