MBC's 'I Live Alone' faces safety probe over bungee jump segment

The MBC variety program ‘I Live Alone’ is facing an investigation following allegations of safety negligence during a bungee jumping segment. Following the broadcast of episode 669 on October 16, which featured Koo Sung-hwan attempting a jump, viewers raised concerns regarding the lack of protective gear for the staff member assisting at the platform.

While the participants were wearing safety harnesses, observers noted that the staff member managing the bungee cords appeared to lack essential fall-prevention equipment, such as safety helmets, harnesses, or protective railings. This has prompted a formal occupational safety complaint to the Gangwon Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Central Regional Employment and Labor Office.

Investigators will examine whether adequate fall-prevention measures were in place for the staff, including the condition of safety nets and the proper use of harnesses. The inquiry will also look into the employment status of the staff members involved. This incident follows previous controversies for the show regarding alleged editing manipulation during travel segments.
