MBDA validates Teseo Mk2/E anti-ship missile for Italian Navy

MBDA has successfully completed a validation firing of the new Teseo Mk2/E anti-ship missile system. During an approximately 20-minute controlled cruise flight, the missile's range was successfully validated.

This milestone allows the development phase to move toward production, with the first deliveries to the Italian Navy scheduled for 2028. The program, initiated in 2021 with the Italian National Directorate of Naval Armaments, aims to provide advanced capabilities for the Marina Militare, including integration into PPA multi-purpose combat ships, FREMM-class frigates, and Horizon-class destroyers.

The Teseo Mk2/E, an evolution of the OTOMAT missile family, features an active electronically scanned array (AESA) guidance head. It is designed to engage both maritime and land targets at long distances, with capabilities for mid-flight trajectory correction via satellite data links and the ability to re-target during flight. The system also incorporates stealth techniques to reduce radar detection and high-acceleration maneuvering capabilities.
