MBG invests €1 million in Baden‑Württemberg biomethane project
The MBG Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Baden‑Württemberg is providing a €1 million equity contribution to Naturenergie Rotachtal GmbH & Co. KG. The funding underpins the construction of a biomethane processing plant that will upgrade biogas into high‑purity methane for heating and transport fuel. Produced biomethane will be supplied via the gas grid to Vetter Pharma GmbH in Ravensburg, while separated carbon dioxide will be reused by a neighbouring specialty‑crop greenhouse.
The project also incorporates agri‑photovoltaic installations and a battery storage system, aiming for a fully regional value chain under the principle “energy from the region for the region”. Financing is jointly provided by Volksbank Donau‑Oberschwaben and Nord/LB, which treat MBG’s capital as equity, strengthening the overall financing structure. MBG presents the initiative as a flagship example of sustainable, economically viable energy transition for small‑ and medium‑sized enterprises in Baden‑Württemberg.
