Mbocayaty authorities recover newborn's body from backyard

Authorities in Mbocayaty, Guairá, conducted a search of a residence in the Capitán Samudio area following reports of a newborn's death. During the operation, police and prosecutors located the body of a male infant buried in a box in the property's yard.

The investigation began after the Villarrica Regional Hospital reported that a woman had given birth with the assistance of a midwife in Coronel Oviedo. Health workers discovered the infant had been born dead and had been buried on the premises. The woman, aged 23, was admitted to the hospital for medical care following the delivery.

Prosecutor Martín Escalada stated that while there were initial rumors regarding physical aggression against the mother, current interviews have not supported claims of domestic violence causing the death. The infant's remains have been transferred to the Judicial Morgue in Asunción for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
