Mboko knee injury ends Serena Williams' Queen's doubles run

Victoria Mboko, the 19‑year‑old Canadian ranked No.9, suffered a left‑knee medial collateral ligament injury during her singles match against Karolína Plíšková at the Queen's Club tournament in London. The injury forced her to withdraw from the event, ending the newly formed doubles partnership with 44‑year‑old Serena Williams. The duo had won their opening match against Nicole Melichar‑Martínez and Erin Routliffe before the injury forced them out of the quarter‑finals. Mboko wrote that the fall “caused an injury to the medial collateral ligament of my left knee, meaning I will miss the rest of the grass season, including Wimbledon.” Williams responded with consolation, calling Mboko “my diamond.” The injury halts Mboko’s grass‑court season and delays Williams’ hoped‑for comeback on the Wimbledon stage.
