Mbour flood relief: 50 motor pumps deployed to assist affected neighborhoods

Ousmane Abdoulaye Barro, Chief of Staff to the President, has mobilized emergency resources to assist flood-affected neighborhoods in Mbour. Following a field visit to assess stagnant water levels, Barro identified several critical areas where flooding has invaded homes and disrupted daily life.

To provide immediate relief, 50 motor pumps, along with hoses and cables, have been deployed to facilitate water evacuation. Financial support has also been provided to help families cover the operational costs of the pumping equipment.

Beyond immediate aid, Barro emphasized the need to address structural causes of the flooding. Discussions with the National Sanitation Office of Senegal (ONAS), local authorities, and the prefecture highlighted issues regarding institutional coordination and the impact of recent infrastructure projects on natural water flow.
