Mbya Guaraní culture promoted through community tourism in Paraguay

Community tourism initiatives in Trinidad, Itapúa, are playing a vital role in dignifying and promoting Mbya Guaraní culture. Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) and Senatur recently visited the local tourist information and artisan sales point to highlight the success of these efforts.

Established in 2013, the project serves as a platform for community resilience, allowing indigenous artisans to sell ancestral products with dignity. The center offers experiential tourism, including jungle hiking, community visits, and workshops for making seed bracelets.

During the WRC Rally Paraguay, the center saw a significant influx of visitors seeking cultural experiences. Mbya Guaraní chief Benito Benítez, known as ‘Karai Mini’, noted that the interaction with tourists fosters trust and respect. Senatur head Javier Ramírez emphasized the project's potential to attract both national and international tourists.
