MC Pipokinha ordered to pay R$ 100,000 for explicit show

Brazilian singer MC Pipokinha, born Doroth Helena de Sousa Alves, has been ordered by the 1st Civil Court of Corumbá to pay R$ 100,000 in collective moral damages. The ruling follows a February 2023 performance at the Esquenta do Magrão event, where explicit sexual content was presented on a public trio elétrico.

Evidence presented to the court showed the artist performing partially undressed, with dancers simulating sexual acts. The performance was highly visible to the public, including adolescents approximately 14 years old and students at a nearby school. Judge Maurício Cleber Miglioranzi Santos ruled that the display exceeded the limits of artistic freedom due to the exposure of minors in a public space.

In addition to the singer, four other individuals involved in the event's organization were each fined R$ 15,525. The total combined indemnity of R$ 162,100 will be directed to the Municipal Fund for the Rights of Children and Adolescents.
