MCA Centenaire supercar to head to auction

The first MCA Centenaire, a rare supercar produced by Monte Carlo Automotive (MCA), is scheduled for auction at the Zoute Concours Auction in Belgium, with an estimated value of up to €1.2 million.

Founded in 1985 by former Formula 2 and CART driver Fulvio-Maria Ballabio, MCA aimed to create a signature supercar for Monaco. The Centenaire, unveiled in 1990 to mark the centenary of the Automobile Club de Monaco, was presented to Prince Albert II. It is recognized as the first road car to feature a carbon-composite monocoque chassis, a pioneering technology for the era.

The vehicle was developed by a team of motorsport experts, including technical director Carlo Chiti, former Alfa Romeo racing director Perluigi Corbari, F1 engineer Marcel Zunnino, and former F1 driver Guglielmo Bellasi. The Centenaire was powered by a 5.2-liter Lamborghini V12 engine, similar to that used in the Countach 5000 QV, producing 455 horsepower and paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Only five units were produced between 1990 and 1992.
