Sarawak State Assembly dissolved ahead of 13th State Election

The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) has been officially dissolved, initiating the process for the 13th Sarawak State Election (PRN13). The dissolution was announced by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg following the consent of the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

Under Article 21(4) of the State Constitution, the election must be conducted within 60 days of the dissolution. The Election Commission (EC) is now tasked with determining the specific dates for candidate nominations and polling.

During this period, the state government will function in a caretaker capacity to ensure that public administration and essential services continue without interruption. The current mandate for the 82-seat assembly was originally scheduled to end in February 2027.
