McDermott wins $1 billion contract for ADNOC gas project

McDermott has secured an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract valued at over $1 billion from ADNOC. The contract is for Package 4 of the Umm Shaif Integrated Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting (SPB) project, a key part of the Umm Shaif Long Term Development Plan aimed at maximizing gas recovery and increasing production in the United Arab Emirates.

Working through the Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW) consortium, the company will provide the full EPCI scope for a new surface pressure boosting facility. This includes the construction and installation of a jacket and topside, along with associated brownfield modifications. Once completed, the topside is expected to be among the heaviest offshore modules ever installed in the Middle East.

Engineering and project management will be directed from McDermott’s offices in the UAE, while fabrication will take place at the QMW joint venture yard in Qingdao, China. This award follows a $6.2 billion final investment decision for the broader project.
