McDonald's adds new Dutch restaurant and temporary World Menu

A new McDonald's with a drive‑through, parking for 69 cars and solar‑powered canopies is moving toward approval in Oude‑Tonge, Netherlands. The design includes a fenced terrace, playground, and a safety assessment that found no significant risk to protected species or nearby facilities. The municipality will issue the final permit after a public comment period ends on 11 August 2026.

At the same time, McDonald’s Netherlands launched a limited‑time "World Menu Heist" campaign on 7 July 2026. The promotion brings international items such as the Japanese McCrispy Teriyaki, Indonesian McFlurry Popcorn, Chilean Cheese Empanadas, and South Korean Cajun Sauce to all Dutch outlets until mid‑September. A flagship store in Breukelen was temporarily transformed into a "Heist Container" to showcase the menu.
