McDonald's deploys giant machines for college campus promotion
McDonald's launched a limited-time promotional campaign titled “Fry Aid,” featuring oversized machines designed to distribute meal credits to college students. The initiative was timed to coincide with Homecoming celebrations on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Inspired by a viral social media trend involving the combination of French fries and Diet Coke, the machines did not dispense physical food. Instead, they distributed McDonald's Arch Cards loaded with meal credits. The rollout was limited to a five-hour window from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time at three specific locations: Ann Arbor, Michigan; Atlanta, Georgia; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
