McDonald's Japan to launch new thigh meat chicken burgers
McDonald's Japan is significantly refreshing its chicken menu starting October 21. Following five years of development and over 100 prototypes, the company is transitioning its primary chicken offerings from breast meat to whole thigh meat.
Three new regular burgers will be introduced: the ‘Zaku Zaku Juicy Mac’, the ‘Spicy Zaku Zaku Juicy Mac’, and the ‘Teriyaki Chicken Juicy Mac’. These feature a wavy, crunchy coating designed to maximize juiciness. Additionally, a ‘Zaku Zaku Juicy Momo Chicken’ side item will join the permanent menu. For the ‘Yoru Mac’ (evening menu) after 5:00 PM, customers can order ‘Double’ versions of these burgers containing two pieces of thigh meat.
As part of this transition, several existing items including the ‘Chicken Filet’, ‘Teriyaki Chicken Filet’, and ‘Shaka Chiki’ will be phased out. The launch will also include limited-time offerings such as ‘Shaka Shaka Potato’ with black pepper seasoning and ‘Mac Fizz’ lemonade drinks.
