McDonald's launches Fry Aid promotion for college students

McDonald's is launching a new marketing activation called ‘Fry Aid’ on October 17, targeting college students during Homecoming celebrations. The campaign features oversized dispensers in three specific college towns: Ann Arbor, Michigan; Atlanta, Georgia; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Rather than dispensing food directly, these machines will distribute McDonald's Arch Cards. The promotion is inspired by a viral social media trend where the combination of McDonald's fries and Diet Coke is used as a recovery ritual after social events. The dispensers will be available at designated locations in each city from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to the localized machine activations, McDonald's is offering a nationwide promotion through the end of the year. Customers can receive free fries with any purchase of at least $1 when using the McDonald's app.
