McDonald's opens new flagship restaurant in Budapest's historic Terminál building

McDonald's has opened a new restaurant in the historic Terminál building at Erzsébet tér in Budapest. The location, formerly a major bus station, features a design that blends retro elements with modern aesthetics. To preserve the building's heritage, the interior retains architectural details such as the central clock and a wall featuring clocks showing local times from various cities around the world.

The restaurant introduces the “Cube” design concept to Hungary for the first time. This interior style was inspired by the experience of opening a Happy Meal box, utilizing geometric shapes, warm colors, and motifs reminiscent of the brand's iconic smile. Additionally, a unique wall graphic depicts the history and evolving community role of Erzsébet tér.

This opening is part of McDonald's ongoing expansion in Hungary, bringing its total number of local restaurants to 127. The company is also expanding its presence in regional areas, with plans to open a new location in Paks by the end of the year.
