McDonald's opens new outlets in Mechernich, Germany and breaks ground in Waidhofen, Austria

A new McDonald's restaurant began soft‑opening in the Monzenbend business park of Mechernich‑Kommern, Germany. The outlet employs 48 staff, offers 202 seats and eight self‑service ordering stations. In Waidhofen/Ybbs, Austria, a ceremonial groundbreaking marked the start of construction for the town’s first McDonald’s on the former dairy‑site in the Patertal district. The project, led by construction firm Swietelsky and architects from Viereck, targets an opening in early November 2026. The development follows McDonald’s long‑standing presence in Lower Austria, where the chain operates 38 restaurants and sources about 70 % of its raw materials locally.
