McDonald's to remove McRib from German menu
McDonald's has announced that the McRib burger will be removed from its regular menu in Germany, effective Tuesday, October 27. The company has not provided specific reasons for the decision to discontinue the item, which has been available in German branches since 1989.
The announcement has triggered significant reactions on social media, particularly TikTok, where fans have shared emotional farewell videos and documented large-scale stockpiling of the product. Some users have even jokingly threatened legal action or compared their frozen McRib collections to Bitcoin investments.
In response to the discontinuation, several petitions have been launched on platforms such as Change.org and OpenPetition to “save” the burger. Supporters argue the McRib is a staple of the local culinary experience. The burger, consisting of a pork patty with onions, pickles, and barbecue sauce, was originally co-developed by René Arend, a chef from Luxembourg.
