McDonald’s viral AI coding tool hack debunked
A viral social media trend claiming that McDonald’s customer support chatbot can be used to access premium AI coding tools for free has been debunked as a hoax. The scam, which has gained millions of views on platforms like X, Instagram, and LinkedIn, utilizes fabricated screenshots showing a user asking for Python coding assistance within a McDonald’s support interface.
Investigations have confirmed that the screenshots are fake. McDonald’s does not operate an AI-powered chatbot capable of such tasks; its existing Virtual Assistant is limited to specific customer service scenarios, such as reporting meal quality or locating restaurants. While the claim first surfaced in April, it has recently resurfaced on accounts likely seeking to drive engagement through misinformation.
