McGrath Foundation nurse provides critical support in Nowra cancer battle

Suzanne Sweetman and Yvonne Clark faced significant medical challenges after moving to the Shoalhaven region shortly after Sweetman was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin's lymphoma. Following the move from Ballarat, Victoria, Sweetman began chemotherapy in mid-January 2026.

During treatment, Sweetman experienced severe complications, including a drop in her immune system, RSV, colitis, and issues related to her diabetes. McGrath Foundation cancer care nurse Rachel Neil provided essential coordination and support, assisting with medical appointments, interpreting complex information during chemotherapy-induced brain fog, and connecting the patients with specialists such as an endocrinologist.
