Ford and McLaren advance Hypercar testing for 2027 WEC debut

Major automotive manufacturers McLaren and Ford are advancing their development programs for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Ford Racing recently completed a significant three-day testing phase at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. The LMDh prototype, powered by a 5.4-liter Coyote V8 engine, covered more than 1,000 kilometers. Drivers Matt Campbell, Logan Sargeant, Tom Blomqvist, and Mike Rockenfeller participated in the sessions. Ford plans to continue testing at various European tracks, including Portimao, Silverstone, Monza, Imola, and Aragon, before moving to testing sites in the United States such as Circuit of the Americas and Sebring.

Simultaneously, McLaren has successfully concluded a three-day endurance test for its MCL-HY hypercar at Silverstone. The testing focused on mechanical component reliability and hybrid system performance. These efforts are part of the strategic preparation for both manufacturers' upcoming entries into the WEC, with official debuts targeted for the 2027 season.
