McLaren F1 GTR 10R owned by Nick Mason to be auctioned for over $35 million

The ex‑Nick Mason McLaren F1 GTR chassis 10R, built in 1995 and briefly entered the 1996 Le Mans qualifying, is slated for sale at RM Sotheby’s during Monterey Car Week from 13 to 15 August. The red‑painted prototype, purchased by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason in 1999, is valued at more than $35 million, a price that would make it the most expensive McLaren and the most expensive UK‑built car ever sold at auction. The auction house expects the car’s unique provenance, distinctive colour scheme and celebrity ownership to drive the high estimate, placing it among the world’s ten most expensive cars ever sold publicly.

If the estimate is met, the sale will highlight the growing market for historic race‑car memorabilia and could set a new benchmark for future auctions of rare automotive prototypes.
