McLaren F1 GTR 10R sets record as most expensive British auction sale

A McLaren F1 GTR 10R has set a new record as the most expensive British car ever sold at public auction. During Monterey Car Week, the chassis was sold via RM Sotheby's for $34.655 million.

This sale surpasses the previous record for a McLaren, which was held by a 1994 F1 road car (chassis 014) that sold for approximately $25.3 million in Abu Dhabi. The GTR 10R is notable for being one of only two 'Short Tail' XP prototypes and served as a development tool for McLaren. Despite having been involved in two previous accidents, the vehicle achieved this historic price point.
