Cadillac and McLaren manage F1 development transition

Formula 1 teams Cadillac and McLaren are navigating the critical transition between developing their current 2026 cars and preparing for the 2027 season.

Cadillac, in its inaugural season, is preparing to halt major development on its 2026 chassis to focus resources on the 2027 model. Drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez have noted that while the team has seen progress and improved its speed, the difficulty of competing against established teams and interpreting complex regulations has kept them at the back of the grid. Bottas stated, “there is a point where we need to change our focus 100% to next year.”

Mclaren is also managing this balance but from a position of strength following recent successes.
