McLaren leadership issues warnings after Norris and Piastri collision in Singapore

McLaren leadership expressed significant anger following a collision between teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri during the Singapore Grand Prix Sprint. The incident occurred on the final lap at Turn 5 when Norris attempted an aggressive overtake, striking the rear wheel of Piastri’s car. The contact caused both cars to spin; Piastri was forced to retire from the race, while Norris managed to finish eighth.

While race stewards took no formal action, citing that both drivers contributed to the collision, McLaren CEO Zak Brown and Team Principal Andrea Stella reportedly issued stern internal warnings to the drivers. Reports suggest the leadership was uncharacteristically furious behind closed doors regarding the unnecessary nature of the maneuver.

Separately, during the Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc reported technical issues with his Ferrari, claiming the car began braking on its own at Turn 13. Despite the scare, Leclerc finished second. Additionally, Fernando Alonso reported a broken turbo in his Honda power unit at the Marina Bay circuit, though Honda engineers stated they saw no major issues in the data and decided to replace the unit based solely on driver feedback.
